Failed Promises

Something that has been drawing my attention is these Tweets that come into my feed from people I neither follow nor am interested in. One such account (which I will not name) is a Prosperity Gospel Preacher who is always promising blessings and money to people if they just claim it. I am not interested in this content at all. I think the Prosperity Gospel is a false Gospel that offends Christ.

If all God wants for us is wealth, health, and happiness, then why does the Bible speak of hardships people faced for being a Christian in the first century? It honestly makes me angry to listen to these people who consider themselves so anointed that they have the authority to give a blessing to all who listen to them if they just say, "Claim it!" And what happens when you DON'T get the blessing that you were promised? What happens if you say, "I claim it," and it still doesn't happen? Well, clearly there is a problem with you because you didn't have enough faith for it. That's what these "anointed ones" would tell you.

I have even on occasion said, "If you want me to have money, here's my PayPal account. Feel free to donate to me. Else, if you are not willing to give out of your own pocket to fulfill your promises to me, then your words are empty and void." Never got a response from the person promising money. However, a few of these kinds of posts have gotten a relatively good degree of likes (for what it is). That's why I keep doing it. I know it is reaching people by pointing out the absolute depravity of these Prosperity Preachers. All they are good at is making money for themselves. That's what Prosperity Preachers are all about. They want to raise money (for themselves) and they are very good at it. That seems to be the one thing they are good at is making money by preying on those who are just trying to better their own life by giving so it is given to them.

I also wonder, "By what authority do you have to promise people will get money?" It seems many of these prominent money stealers assume authority themselves. They have gifts God has given them, sure enough, they have gifts. The problem is they use the gifts God has given them to make themselves a gross amount of money by preying on the poor. They have giftings of being charismatic and so elect themselves to a prominent position based solely on their giftings of being charismatic in their personality. They don't have the word of God and I often wonder if they are even Christians at all. Their theology is clearly straight out of the pit of hell. It's the Gospel everyone wants to hear but not the Gospel Christ had in mind when he said, "In the world, you will have tribulation."

I only need one verse of the Bible to show the Prosperity Gospel is evil:

Acts 14:22 NAS20

““It is through many tribulations that we must enter the kingdom of God.””

They don't even address this verse let alone try and exegete it. They get power through the ignorance of others. It is absolutely despicable. I almost want to pray judgment down on these people for perverting the Word of God to suit their own selfish ambitions. Nonetheless, judgment is coming to them. The Lord says, "Do not avenge yourselves. I will repay." Yet I can't help but be moved by the injustice they do.

God is repeatably said to be one who cares about orphans and widows all throughout the Bible. The New Testament expands on this saying,

1 Thessalonians 5:14 NAS20

“We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”

So while I would love to point out who and when and where these false teachers preach and tell them to their face that they preach a false Gospel, I will leave it to God to judge them, lest I reap judgment on my own head.

Don't listen to these people, call them out when the opportunity presents itself, and stay loyal to Christ.

God bless you! Until next time!
